RULE #1:
- Before you even find a home - please understand the process !
- In the right order, you will not be overwhelmed when you are ready to buy!
RULE #2:
- Get pre-approved by a bank or mortgage broker. More sellers are only negotiating with buyers that have their financing in place.
- When you are pre-approved, you pose less risk to the seller who will be taking their home off the market.
RULE #3:
- Do your homework and make your wish list of things you "have to have", and things you would "like to have".
- Your list will include items such as a basement, garage, number of bedrooms, baths, proximity to parks, schools or train.
RULE #4:
- Find "one" Realtor and stick with that person!
- Your agent will work harder for you when there is loyalty on your part.
- You may be asked to sign a Buyer Agency Contract which will guarantee that your Realtor is working for you and not the seller.
- For Sale By Owner homes can be negotiated by your Realtor. Just ask and let their expertise work for you.
RULE #5:
- Write your offer under the direction of your Realtor.
